Michael Lavin FRCS. FRCOphth.

Mr Michael Lavin is a honorary consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, having been appointed in 1990. Since that time he has established a busy and extensive private practice, with special interests in the management of complex cataract surgery problems, glaucoma surgery , vitrectomy surgery, and new intravitreal treatments for retinal disease

Michael Lavin trained in Ophthalmology at Guys Hospital, London, the Western Ophthalmic Hospital, London and at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. At Moorfields he held successive posts as Registrar, Senior Registrar, and Fellow and Lecturer.

He has helped train Consultants who now work in major teaching hospitals in the UK, and many countries around the world, and has previously been an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is a past member of the Diabetic Retinopathy Guidelines Committee for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Michael Lavin has published more than 30 clinical research papers in peer review journals, is a referee for several ophthalmic journals, and lectures at conferences on aspects of cataract surgery and retinal disease. Special interests include the management of complex cataract surgery problems, glaucoma surgery, vitrectomy surgery, and the new intravitreal injections for retinal disease.
